The quarry in Nagueles was full to capacity, the tickets completely sold out as Status Quo took to the stage where fans were enthralled with such hits as 'I am in the Army Now', Rockin' all over the World' Matchstick Men and Caroline amongst a plethora of others from the iconic rock band.
Status Quo are regarded as being one of the most successful rock bands of all time. For over 50 years they have performed more than 7000 live concerts whilst racking up many awards including the Silver Clef Award, a Brit Award, and a World Music Award. To date they have produced 67 singles and released 40 albums.
Although Rick Parfitt was not there due to having had a heart attack in Turkey but making a good recovery, this did not dampen the spirits of the ecstatic crowd as Irish guitarist Richie Malone stepped in.
Rick is a regular visitor to Marbella having bought a house here with his wife Lyndsay from long term Real Estate Agent Julian Hall who has called Spain his home for over 28 years. Since he secured the purchase of their dream home, they became firm friends. They were so impressed with his knowledge of the local market and his professionalism, they soon immersed in discussions to create a real estate venture. Subsequently Rick, Lyndsay and Julian founded Status Homes which since its inception in April 2015, Status Homes has become one of the leaders in the highly competitive market place with their strap line 'Whatever you want, whatever you need, Status Homes will help you find your ideal property!
With their close association with Rick and his family they decided to hold a competition prior to the concert offering two tickets and a personal introduction to the band prior to the spectacular evening and these were won by James Yeadon and Jose Pedro Fernandez Gago.
Annabel from Weekendworldnews caught up with James, following the concert. 'It was amazing seeing and meeting such a famous group up close and personal when you have been an avid fan for many years, performing all their major hits including my two all-time favourites 'What are you proposing' and 'In the Army Now'.
With Starlite´s spectacular amphitheatre shaped auditorium with extraordinary acoustics and closeness with the audience it is hardly surprising that it has been the chosen venue by such stars as Julio Iglesias, Andrea Bocelli and Enrique Iglesias to perform their only concerts in Spain. A visit to Starlite 2017 is a must and we wait with baited breath to see if Status Quo will once again take to the stage with Rick Parfitt back at the helm. From us all at Weekend World Newspaper, we wish Rick the speediest recovery and look forward to seeing you 'rockin' back on stage in the not too distant future.
